Baladeva Vidyabhusana Pranama mantra

Baladeva Vidyabhusana (ca. 1700-1793 AD)

govinda-deva-dayitaṁ paramārtha-pūrṇaṁ

vidvatsv aho jayapure jaya-bhūṣitaṁ vai

nyāya-śruti-smṛti-vivāda-samordhva-hīnaṁ

vedānta-riktha-baladeva-yatiṁ namāmi

govinda-deva— to Lord Govinda; dayitam— dear; paramārtha— with transcendental knowledge; pūrṇam— surcharged; vidvatsu— among the learned scholars; aho— What a wonder! jayapure— in Jaipur; jaya— with victory; bhūṣitam— decorated; vai— indeed; nyāya-śruti-smṛti-vivāda— in debates on the śruti, smṛti, or nyāya; samordhva— equal or superior; hīnam— devoid of; vedānta-riktha— whose treasure is the conclusion of all Vedic scriptures; baladeva-yatim— unto the sage Baladeva; namāmi— I offer my humble obeisances.

“I offer my humble obeisances unto the great sage Śrīla Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa. Being very dear to Lord Govindajī and surcharged with transcendental knowledge, he became decorated with victory in the assembly of learned scholars in Jaipur. What a wonder! Nobody was equal or superior to him in debates on the śruti, smṛti, or nyāya, for he possessed the treasure of fully knowing the conclusion of all Vedic scriptures.”

Disclaimer: Although I have been using the above picture  - lacking an original one -, it should be mentioned that this is a modern drawing, most likely some decades old, which is seen in the Radha-Gokulananda Temple and may not resemble Vidyabhusana at all. The painter is unknown to me.
